Job Center Phone Receptionist

Responsible to:

Program Director, William Lewis

General Job Description:     

DenUM’s Job Services Center specializes in those who are “hard to employ” – those who struggle to find work despite limited education and histories of chronic homelessness, addition, or incarceration. Having someone to receive clients and provide employment support services ensures that DenUM clients are treated with courtesy and timely assistance.

Responsibilities:              

Assist clients checking in for orientation and Job Services resources (e.g. phones, computer lab).

Be present at the front desk to answer questions, fax resumes for clients, hand out resources and answer calls.

- Call partner agencies and/or do internet research to find and verify services available to clients.

Update job listings, bulletin boards and referral resources.

Revise, copy, and stock hard-copy materials used by clients and case managers.

Work with staff and clients as necessary to maintain a safe DenUM environment for all.

Skills Required:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Some data entry required (training provided).

Internet skills are useful.

Ability to communicate well with diverse populations.

Must demonstrate poise, compassion and non-judgment toward clients.

Must be able to understand, communicate, and uphold DenUM regulations.

Time Commitment:

2-4 hour commitments during open business hours:

M/T/Th/F 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Wed 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Schedules can be accommodated for weekly or monthly commitments.

DenUM’s Commitment:

A minimum of 4 hours of orientation covering emergency procedures, DenUM rules and program regulations, resource management, and facility tour.

6 or more hours of job shadowing and supervised training on direct service procedures.

Continuing education throughout the year.

A mentor program with experienced staff members is available to new volunteers.
