DenUM's events bring the community into relationship with those DenUM serves - providing opportunities for volunteerism, for education, for advocacy, for interaction, and for transformation.
January-April: Lenten Activities
Lent is a special time in the Christian calendar, and an ideal time to reflect on our connections with those who are less fortunate. Let DenUM partner with you to make this season especially meaningful for your community this year! Contact DenUM's Community Relations Coordinator (303-350-5064) to learn more about DenUM Hunger Banquets, booking client speakers, urban retreats (Urban Education), service projects, legislative advocacy and more!
March: Annual Meeting
Each year DenUM looks forward to celebrating its successes with supporters at its Annual Meeting. 2006 marked DenUM's 25th year of service provision to those in need. DenUM was pleased to have its event at the church of DenUM founding director Rev. Paul Kottke. Guests included keynote speaker Steve Graham, Executive Director of Community Resource Center, and all but one of DenUM's past Executive Directors.
June: Hunger Awareness Day
DenUM teams up with Food Bank of the Rockies to mark another year in which hunger remains a reality for residents of the Denver metro area. In 2003, over 32,000 families in Colorado lived below the federal poverty line, earning less than $14,824 per year for a family of three. One in five Colorado families in poverty frequently miss meals.
July: DenUM Open House & BBQ
Each July DenUM sponsors an Independence Day barbeque for its clients, volunteers, staff and Board members to relax and celebrate together.
Please plan to attend DenUM’s Independence Day Open House on Monday, July 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Hot dogs, chips and cake will be served, and tours of DenUM’s building will be available throughout the event. Come meet and celebrate with DenUM staff, volunteers and clients!
October: World Food Day & Hunger Banquets
World Food Day reminds us again of the imbalance of hunger and abundance in our community. Please consider sponsoring a Hunger Banquet through your organization to raise awareness and funds to fight hunger. DenUM can help! Please click here to request more information.
November: Food for All
Food for All provides staple foods for more than 400 families who receive Thanksgiving food boxes through DenUM. Last year, 402 youth participated in raising and packing 480 Thanksgiving food boxes! Mark your calendar for
